SLIPS of the tongue don’t come much better than this.
Former Aussie cricketer turned broadcaster Brendon Julian was left red-faced after an embarrassing blunder during the trophy presentation after Australia’s 2-0 series win in the West Indies on Monday morning.
Speaking on the ground to a live television audience, Julian booked his place in commentating folklore by announcing: “The check and the trophy for the Sir Wank ... Forrell trophy has been retained by Australia.”
Oops. That would be the Sir Frank Worrell Trophy, named after the champion Barbados-born batsman who was the first black captain of the West Indies.
