Following
weeks of online-only orders, the Apple Watch is finally available for
in-store pick up — but only if the customer reserves the watch at a
select location before they walk into the store.
Reservations for The Watch can now be made on The Apple Store
at 8 a.m. local time each day. However, because of high demand, the
company said it is possible the watch will become unavailable before the
customer can confirm the reservation.
All Watch models are only
available via a reservation, which means customers still cannot just
walk into a retail Apple store and scoop one up on the spot.
On
Wednesday, reservations were only available in select stores among 25
states. When the customer selects their state and store, the website
will immediately notify them if the Watch is in stock and when the next
available reservation is.
Prior to this reservation option, the Apple Watch was only available for purchase online — and still, most models of the watch were not set to ship until June.
The
launch of the Apple Watch has been much different to other product
launches, where throngs of eager customers wait hours in line at stores
around the world to be the first to get their hands on the latest
device.
